Mike has been training us to train our big dogs for over 18 years. He has helped us with several dog behaviors such as aggression, shyness, and just plain, good dog manners. Our family has often said that Mike trains us, but he is the dog’s psychologist! He has an amazing intuition and way with dogs. We will always have Mike in our lives as THE trainer.

I have known Mike for 25 years both personally and professionally. He communicates well with his clients and excels in being able to diagnose and get desired results. He is realistic in his what he can do for his clients and educates the client in being able to continue progress in the desired areas of behavior modification. I have known Mike for the past twenty years as a dog trainer and highly recommend him to both my clients and staff. When I first got my labrador puppy many years ago, Mike helped me train him into a good and obedient friend. Sam and I enjoyed each others company for many years.

Mike’s training techniques are based in sound principals. He’s not one to follow the latest craze in training. He’s firm but has a good sense of humor. He makes classes a fun learning experience for both the pet and the owner. As a veterinarian I have seen many a trainer come and go; Mike has always been there to give advice and help my clients out. I can think of no better person to refer to whether it be a puppy just starting out or a dog with a behavioral issue.

For many years we have recommended Bay Area Dog Training to our clients for puppy and adult dog training. My first personal involvement with Mr. Michael Hatjes occurred after referring a client to him with an aggressive puppy behavioral problem. Michael visited the home, helped the family make a home training video and came with the family for the puppy’s next visit to Camden Pet Hospital.
